วันนี้ลองติดตั้ง IBM Connections 5.5 และ IBM Docs 2.0 บน Windows 2012 แต่พบว่าระหว่างที่ติดตั้ง IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator (TDI) 7.1.1 อยู่นั้นเจอ Error Message ดังรูป (จริงๆตอนใช้ 7.1.0 ก็เป็น)

อ่าน Error Message แล้วสงสัยจะเป็นเรื่องของ Java แฮะเลย unstall JRE ออกแล้ว restart เครื่องแล้วทดสอบใหม่ ผลที่ได้คือยังคงมี Error Message เดิมแสดงขึ้นมาตอนเรียกตัวติดตั้งอยู่ดี จากการค้นคว้าพบว่า  Error Message นี้มาจากความไม่ compatible ของตัว Installer กับ Windows ซึ่งสามารถแก้ไขได้โดยการกำหนดให้ตัว Installer 'Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 7' ดังรูป

IBM Connections + Jabber

ใช่ว่า IBM Connections จะสามารถเชื่อมต่อกับ IBM Sametime ได้เพียงอย่างเดียวอย่างที่หลายๆคนเข้าใจ จริงๆแล้ว IBM Connections ยังสามารถเชื่อมต่อกับระบบ Unified Communication เช่น Microsoft Lync, Jabber หรืออื่นๆได้
วันนี้ผมเลยอยากนำเสนอการเชื่อมต่อ IBM Connections เข้ากับ Jabber จาก VDO ที่เห็นบริษัท Jabberate เขาได้พัฒนา solution ขึ้นมาเพื่ิอเชื่อมต่อ Jabber เข้ากับ IBM Connections ผ่านช่องทาง XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol) ซึ่งเป็น Open Standard ที่ Jabber ใช้ในการเชื่อมต่อกับระบบอื่นๆ

ทำได้ดีแค่ไหน ผมออกมาเป็นอย่างไร ติดตามดูได้จาก VDO เลยครับ

IBM Connections 5.0 GA: Installation Step by Step

อาทิตย์ที่แล้วมีการปล่อย IBM Connections 5.0 CR2 ออกมาทำให้ผมนึกขึ้นมาได้ว่าหลายๆคนยังไม่เคยมีประสบการณ์กับการติดตั้ง IBM Connections 5.0 จริงๆแล้วขั้นตอนในการติดตั้งจะไม่ต่างกับมากนะครับเมื่อเทียบกับ IBM Connections 4.5 จะต่างกันก็แค่เรื่องพวก version ของ component ต่างๆที่ต้องติดตั้งเท่านั้น อย่างไรก็ตามสำหรับคนที่ไม่เคยติดตั้ง IBM Connections เลยหากต้องการทดลองติดตั้ง IBM Connections 5.0 (ที่ยังไม่รวมถึงการติดตั้ง Cognos BI และ IBM Connections Content Manager หรือ CCM) สามารถดูขั้นตอนการติดตั้งจาก screen capture ที่ผมแชร์ไว้ได้ครับ

IBM Connections 5.0 CR2 is now released!!

มาแล้วครับ เดี๋ยวนี้ออกมาถี่ออกมาบ่อยจริงๆสำหรับ fix ของ IBM Connections สมกับเป็นผลิตภัณฑ์ในกลุ่มที่ IBM กำลังเน้นอยู่จริงๆ
วันนี้ IBM Connections ได้ออก Cumulative Refresh 2 หรือ CR2 มาแล้ว (จริงๆออกมาตั้งแต่วันที่ 24 กพ 2558 แหะๆ) มีอะไรที่หน้าสนใจบ้างไปดูกันครับ

1. What's new

- Integrating Connections Content Manager (CCM) libraries with IBM Docs
มีความสามารถในการเชื่อมต่อ IBM Docs เข้ากับ CCM (หรือ FileNet CM) จากที่เวอร์ชั่นก่อนหน้าจะสามารถสร้าง แก้ไข หรือพรีวิวเอกสาร Microsoft Office และ Open Office ได้เฉพาะในโมดูล File ของ Connections เท่านั้น แต่สำหรับเวอร์ชั่นนี้จะช่วยให้เราสามารถสร้าง แก้ไข พรีวิวเอกสาร หรือแม้แต่กระทั่ง realtime co-editing เอกสารในส่วนของ CCM ได้

- Viewing thumbnail images of files in the Library or Linked Library
ด้วยความสามารถของ IBM Docs Viewer 1.0.7 จะทำให้เราสามารถ preview file ที่อยู่ในส่วนของ CCM ได้โดยไม่ต้อง download พร้อมกับความสามารถที่ทำให้เห็นไฟล์เป็นลักษณะของ preview thumbnail ด้วย ช่วยให้เราทำงานกับไฟล์ได้มากขึ้นจริงๆครับ

- External users support for Connections Content Manager Libraries
ที่ผ่านมา IBM Connections มีการรองรับ Guest Model ตั้งแต่ IC 5.0 โดยความสามารถนี้จะเปิดให้ผู้ใช้สามารถเชิญบุคคลภายนอกองค์กรเข้ามาเป็นส่วนหนึ่งใน Communities ได้แต่ก็ยังคงไว้ซึ่งความปลอดภัยและการจำกัดขอบเขตในการเข้าถึง information ต่างๆ อย่างไรก็ตามเวอร์ชั่นที่ผ่านๆมาผู้ใช้ที่เป็น Guest จะยังไม่สามารถเข้าถึงโมดูล Library หรือเอกสารต่างๆที่เก็บไว้ใน CCM ได้ อย่างไรก็ตามปัญหานี้จะหมดไปใน IC 5.0 CR2 ครับ

- Editing a file locally for Files and Connections Content manager Libraries using the desktop plugin
มีการเพิ่มปุ่ม "Edit on Desktop" เข้ามาเพื่อเปิดให้ผู้ใช้ที่ติดตั้ง IBM Connections Desktop Plug-in บน Windows ที่เป็นเจ้าของไฟล์หรือมีสิทธิในการแก้ไขไฟล์ทั้งในโมดูล File หรีือ Library สามารถกดที่ปุ่ม "Edit on Desktop" ระบบจะเรียกไฟล์ขึ้นมาแก้ไขด้วย client บน Desktop ได้ ตรงนี้ทำให้ผู้ใช้สามารถทำงานได้สะดวกมากขึ้น ประหยัดเวลาและขั้นตอนในการทำงานมากขึ้นครับ

- Enhanced Lotus Quickr for Domino Pages
ที่ผ่านมา Lotus Quickr ไม่ถูกถอนออกจากตลาดและให้สิทธิผู้ใช้ย้ายมาใช้งาน CCM แทน โดย IBM เองก็จะมี migration tools ไว้ให้ อย่างไรก็ตามที่ผ่านมา content ที่ถูก migration มาจาก Quickr จะถูกนำเสนอในอยู่รูปแบบของ iFrame แถมยังจำกัดขนาดของเอกสารด้วย ปัญหานี้หมดไปแล้วครับเพราะ IBM Connections 5.0 CR2 จะให้เครื่องมือตัวใหม่สำหรับ migration ข้อมูลจาก Lotus Quickr for Domino มายัง CCM ด้วย

- Improved consistency for the error message when the descriptoin character limit is exceeded

Ideas and Innovation tools for IBM Connections

เครื่องมือเจ๋งๆที่ช่วยต่อยอดให้ Social Platform อย่าง IBM Connections มีความสามารถในเรื่องการทำ Innovation/Idea Management มากขึ้น

1. HYPE Innovation จาก IBM Software Services for Collaboration (ISSC)

2. TemboSocial Idea

IBM Connections portlet for IBM WebSphere Portal (support IBM Connections Cloud)

     อย่างที่เป็นที่ทราบกันดีว่า IBM Connections ซึ่งเป็น Social Business platform ของ IBM นั้นมีให้บริการทั้งแบบ on-premise (ติดตั้งบน server ของตัวเอง) private cloud (ติดตั้งลงบน server ของ cloud provider เช่น IBM SoftLayer หรือ PureApp) และ Software as a Service (SaaS หรือที่เรียกว่า IBM Connections Cloud, IBM SmartCloud for Social Business) ซึ่งบ่อยครั้ง IBM Connections มาถูกนำไป integrate กับ IBM WebSphere Portal เพื่อดึงเอาความสามารถด้าน social ไปใช้งานร่วมกับ web portal อย่างไรก็ตามในกรณีที่ลูกค้าใช้งาน IBM Connections on Cloud (SaaS) มักจะพบปัญหาว่า Implementor หรือ Developer จำเป็นต้อง develop portlet ขึ้นมาเองเพื่อ IBM WebSphere Portal สามารถเชื่อมต่อกับ IBM Connections on Cloud (SaaS) ได้ แต่ปัญหานี้กำลังจะหมดไปเมื่อปัจจุบันได้มี IBM Connections Portlets For WebSphere Portal v5.0  ออกมาให้ Download ใน Greenhouse Catalog https://greenhouse.lotus.com/plugins/plugincatalog.nsf/assetDetails.xsp?action=editDocument&documentId=55AFF4A1D3D54DF185257CD3006014A4

     อ่านชื่อผ่านๆอาจคิดว่าเป็น IBM Connections portlets สำหรับ IBM WebSphere Portal v.5 แต่ไม่ใช้ครับมันคือ portlets ของ IBM Connections v.5 สำหรับ IBM WebSphere Portal ครับ โดย require IBM WebSphere Portal v8.5 CF03 เป็น minimum requirement

     ทีนี้ Implementer, Developer หรือลูกค้าผู้ใช้ IBM WebSphere Portal และ IBM Connections on Cloud (SaaS) ก็จะไม่ต้องเสียเงิน เสียเวลาในการ develop portlet สำหรับ IBM Connections on Cloud (SaaS) อีกต่อไป

Enabling Language Selector button on IBM Connections

 

โดยปกติเมื่อเราติดตั้ง IBM Connections แล้วเมนูและ User Interface (UI) ต่างๆจะเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ และเมื่อเราต้องการให้ข้อความในเมนูและ UI ต่างๆเป็นภาษาไทย หลายๆคนอาจคิดว่าเราต้อง customize UI ไม่จะด้วยวิธีแก้ properties file หรืออื่นๆ แต่สำหรับ IBM Connections เราไม่ต้องลำบากขนาดนั้นครับ เนื่องจาก IBM Connections รองรับภาษาไทยอยู่แล้ว ระบบจะตรวจสอบ language preference จากค่า locale ที่ตั้งไว้ที่ Browser โดยอัตโนมัติ

อย่างไรก็ตามวิธีการตั้งค่า locale ใน Browser อาจจะยังไม่สะดวกนักในเชิงของการใช้งาน เนื่องจากผู้ใช้บางรายอาจมีความจำเป็นต้องใช้งาน application อื่นๆควบคู่ไปด้วย การตั้ง locale ใน Browser จึงอาจกระทบกับการทำงานของ application อื่นได้ สิ่งที่ง่ายและผมแนะนำให้ใช้คือการเปิดใช้งานปุ่ม language selector ของ IBM Connections ครับ

ขั้นตอนมีดังต่อไปนี้

1. Connect 'wsadmin' tool ใน Dmgr profile

E:\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\Dmgr01\bin>wsadmin.bat -lang jython -user wasadmin -password passw0rd

2. Initialize 'connectionsConfig.py' script

wsadmin>execfile("connectionsConfig.py")

3. Check-out file config ออกมาเป็นเพื่อแก้ไข ซึ่งในขั้นตอนนี้จำเป็นที่จะต้องรู้จักชื่อ cell ของ WebSphere Application Server ที่ติดตั้ง connections ด้วยครับถ้าไม่รู้ก็รันคำสั่งต่อไปนี้ครับ

เอาค่า social5Cell01 มาใส่ใน command checkOutConfig()

wsadmin>LCConfigService.checkOutConfig("E:/configuration","social5Cell01")

4. ใน folder E:/configuration จะได้ file LotusConnecitons-config.xml และ .xsd ออกมา ให้เปิด .xml ด้วย TextEditor

5. มองหา tag ครับ จากนั้นกำหนดค่า
    - enabled="true"
    - defaultLanguage="en"
    ส่วนจะให้เลิกใช้ภาษาอะไรได้บ้างก็ copy เอามาจาก comment ได้เลยครับ

6. เสร็จแล้วรันคำสั่ง checkInConfig()

wsadmin>LCConfigService.checkInConfig()

7. restart connections server

E:\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\AppSrv01\bin>stopServer.bat connections_server
E:\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\AppSrv01\bin>startServer.bat connections_server

 จะพบว่ามี Language Selector แสดงขึ้นมาดังรูปครับ
